Who will win the World Series? If Toronto wins, we will find out tonight. If the Dodgers win, the Series heads to Game 7. One game at a time.

How did we get here? Well throughout the postseason, the teams in the AL and NL have been battling it out in the best-of-five and best-of-seven series in the Division and Championship Series. October baseball has been jam-packed as it brings us hope for which teams will make it not only to the Division Series or Championship Series, but most importantly the World Series, and holds us in suspense for who will win the title. If the Dodgers do win, they would make history to be the first team to win consecutive World Series since 1998-2000 when the NY Yankees won three in a row.

Let’s recap what happened so far for both of them in the postseason…

It started off with the Wild Card Series as the Tigers and Guardians, Red Sox and Yankees, Padres and Cubs, and Reds and Dodgers faced off. The Dodgers swept the Reds in a two-game series. The Blue Jays were the #1 seed in their league and division, and got a bye, meaning they didn’t have to participate in the Wild Card round.

In the AL, the Blue Jays beat the Yankees and the Mariners beat the Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series (ALDS). So the Mariners and Blue Jays faced off in the ALCS. In the NL, the Dodgers and Phillies fought it out in the best-of-five division series, with the Dodgers winning the first two games, then the Phillies winning Game 3, but the Dodgers took them out in Game 4. Due to the error by Kerkerling of the Phillies, it allowed for Kike to walk off and for Hyeseong to score the last winning run that ended the game, securing their spot and letting them move onto the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Dodgers have been off to a great start this postseason so far, but as their competitor in the World Series–the Blue Jays–have been standing their ground, it has been a tough match and is not so confident who will win in the end. If they will continue to be the reigning champions that they are is in question still as this year’s WS and postseason brings about some challenges. A phenomenal four game sweep against Milwaukee meant the Dodgers could fly to Toronto to play the Blue Jays for the first game of the World Series. But so far it has been a tough match as these two amazing teams have superstars on both sides like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the Blue Jays and Dodgers’ designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. Both have outstanding stats, were named MVP of their league’s CS, and have had a great number of amazing plays.

In the American League, Seattle defeats the Tigers 3-2 in the DS and makes it to the CS after Game 5 of the ALDS. The Mariners and Blue Jays now face off in the CS and the Blue Jays won four games against the Mariners. The Toronto Blue Jays won Game 6 with a score of 6-2 against the Mariners while they tied the series 3-3, and forced a Game 7 which they won. It really comes to show that they are a dominant team as well and can put up a fight as much as the Dodgers.

Currently in the World Series, the Dodgers have won Games 2 and 3, while the Blue Jays have won Games 1, 4, and 5. It has been an epic three home games so far with Game 3 being an astonishing 18-inning game, the Blue Jays winning Game 4, 6-2, and Game 5 with the score being 6-1. We are heading back to Canada to potentially win Game 6 and 7, and will hopefully come back home feeling victorious.

Right now, it is unclear whether the Dodgers will win because the Blue Jays are showing that they are no joke. Hopefully, the Dodgers will make a comeback, and as a battle between the countries continues, we will see if these next two games will be in the favor of the Dodgers and if they will be the worthy World Series champions in America yet again.
