The previous Valencia High School STEM Conference has expanded to become the Los Angeles County STEM Conference, which will be held in Santa Monica for the first time in its three-year history. This year’s conference will be held at the Creator Space LA from 1:30 to 5:30 pm on November 8. While the conference is primarily aimed at high school students, some STEM clubs from local colleges will also be present.Â
Attendees are encouraged to participate in the online competition, which invites students to design a tech-based solution in the areas of nature, health, or infrastructure that helps communities withstand global challenges like climate change, pandemics, or resource shortages. Participants in the competition will bring a tri-fold poster with their original research idea, and will have a chance to win a cash prize for first and second place.Â
In addition to the competition, attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with clubs and organizations relating to STEM, hear from guest speakers, and network through different events. Confirmed college clubs include the COC Astrophysics Club, UCLA Saving Hearts Club, and CruX @ UCLA.
The guest speakers include a California Institute of Technology researcher in quantum computing, the chief executive officer of Neuron, a neuropathology startup, a COC Aerospace and Science Team representative, and SpaceX and NASA specialists.Â
For those interested in attending, an RSVP form, club table sign-up, and conference submission form are available at https://linktr.ee/losangelesstemconferenceÂ
