It’s finally the time of the year, finals are approaching! Here are a few helpful tips to help you prepare for the last step of the school year.
Make flashcards
Writing down information on notecards is such a helpful way to memorize words or concepts for your final. While reviewing concepts while typing can be helpful, writing down notes on physical flashcards allows you to process information more efficiently than reviewing on Quizlet.
Review past units' notes and create a study sheet
Look back at your notes you took over the school year to prepare for finals. Finals cover everything you’ve learned throughout the year, so making a study guide with past notes can help you revise.
Focus on concepts you aren’t familiar with
People tend to focus on the topics they already know because it’s “easier” and procrastinate on the concepts they struggle with. Instead, start with the difficult concepts and work your way towards the ones you’re comfortable with.
Minimize interruptions
During finals week, it is easy to get distracted by social media, procrastination, and notifications on your phone. Make sure to put away any devices and find a quiet place to focus on studying.
Chunking your notes
Divide your notes into sections to make it easier to manage all the concepts being learnt.
This technique will help you memorize more information and make connections within the units.
