Makenna Koffee Holiday Menu Review

The scent of cinnamon in the air, the comforting warmth of a drink in your hand that is both sweet and festively spiced; these are the things I look for each holiday season. For that cozy December feeling, I stopped by one of Santa Clarita’s most beloved coffee shops: Makenna Koffee. This local spot is known for its delicious kona coffee grounds from Hawaii and its creative menu that has led it to be a frequently busy place. This week, I had the chance to try their new and highly anticipated holiday menu and share my thoughts.

Cookie Butter Latte

espresso mixed with creamy cookie butter with a splash of maui milk

★★★★★

This was by far my favorite drink out of all of the holiday options. I love cookie butter lattes in general, and this one was very sweet, which is exactly the way I like my lattes.

Gingerbread Latte

gingerbread flavor + espresso

★★★☆☆

I didn’t think this drink was too special. I had much higher expectations, which is a recurring theme in this review. The drink is obviously very simple, but I found that the amount of gingerbread flavor was very lacking.

Santa's Cookie

a white chocolate mocha with almond roca and toasted marshmallow

★★★⯨☆

I enjoyed this drink a lot because the almond wasn’t super overpowering and bitter, but I wish there was more marshmallow flavor.

Peppermint Snowball (White Choc)

peppermint mocha!

★★⯨☆☆

This was the biggest let down for me. I had such high hopes for a great peppermint mocha, but the “peppermint" was almost entirely missing from the drink aside from some sprinkles at the bottom.

Gingerbread Chai

Gingerbread spiced chai latte with kona cloud

★★☆☆☆

My least favorite holiday drink. The gingerbread at Makenna just seems to not be very good. This chai was bland in my opinion and I could barely taste the gingerbread additions.

I thoroughly enjoyed trying the new drinks on the holiday menu, but I found that most of the options were lacking necessary holiday flavor. I would recommend sticking to your current order and saving the money.
