The 2025-2026 Champions League has not disappointed so far as there have been many exciting results and each of the 36 participating teams have been playing with everything they’ve got.

Big clubs have once again proved their dominance and superiority with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain, Inter Milan, and Arsenal all keeping perfect points and winning each of the three matches. On the most recent matchdays; Bayern earned a comfortable 4-0 win over Club Brugge, Real Madrid stayed steady and beat Juventus by one, and PSG had a deafening victory over Leverkusen with seven goals to their name.

With the many of the top teams showing that they are going all in to win the final in Budapest, fans will be in for a great season of European football. Since there is a new “league” system instead of a traditional tournament setting, the top 8 teams will get direct qualification to the Round of 16.

Bayern’s Harry Kane and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe are the current leading goalscorers of the competition with five goals. Harry Kane is a more experienced, well-rounded striker who excels in finishing and is known for his unique talent to drop far back into the midfield or even the defensive third in order to create plays with his long passing range. Mbappe is a familiar household name as he was the 18-year old winner of the 2018 Fifa World Cup and a finalist in 2022. Known for his blistering pace and powerful playstyle, he has established himself as one of the potential greatest players of all time. While his first season with Real Madrid didn’t go as expected, he is showing that he is back for revenge and won’t let anything stop him from achieving victory.

Marcus Rashford of Barcelona is proving the doubters wrong as he is tied for the most assists in the competition. He was once seen as a player with insane potential, but in his last few spells at Manchester United he was just a shell of his true self. Now at Barcelona, fans are excited to see him in an environment where he is succeeding. Harry Kane’s name is written all over the competition at the moment as he is tied with Rashford, both with four assists. This statistic is just another tribute to his passing range and unique playstyle.

Rising ballers have also been making their mark on the European football scene with the likes of Fermin Lopez (Barcelona) and Aaron Gordon (Newcastle) impressing fans with their goalscoring talent.

What is truly exciting about this competition is always the crazy level of quality and talent seen all over the pitch in each match. We are seeing a new dimension of the beautiful game with teams adopting more offensively aggressive styles in the newer league table format. Fans all over the world have a great rest of the year ahead of them in the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League.
