After a rollercoaster season with amazing plays and standout talent, the Valencia High School Varsity Boys Baseball wrapped up their season with a narrow win of 15-12.
They began with some tough competition and challenging matchups against non-league opponents, including Hueneme, El Camino Real, and Culver City. The Vikings started off strongly, with a close defeat of Birmingham High School and dominating Hueneme with a blowout victory. Despite a close game, the Patriots fell short, leading the Vikings into a new season with a 3-2 win.
During midseason, the Vikings faced off against league rivals. Expectations were high, especially after an amazing comeback against Saugus. Following an initial 8-1 loss on March 19, the Vikings redeemed themselves just two days later with an impressive 13-3 victory. The Centurions initially took the lead, but Valencia senior Lincoln Hunt was able to tie the score in the first inning, setting up senior Noah Jaquez to bring another run in the first inning with a key RBI single to left field. Approaching the end of the season, the Vikings were met with two tough losses against West Ranch (12-0 and 8-5), but team morale was still high.
Coming into the final stretch of the season, rather than feeling defeated, the team showed resilience and secured district wins against Hart District rival Golden Valley and non-league victories against Camarillo and Trinity. Standout performances included a home run by junior Justin Gaisford and doubles by seniors Colten Biggs, Lincoln Hunt, and Esteban Valencia. The Vikings were able to end this season on a high note, with a dominating 16-1 victory over Newbury Park.
