A few months ago, many people were extremely excited after Robert Downey Jr. revealed that he would play Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers movie. This was amazing news because Marvel fans will be able to see the face of Marvel take on a new role as a villain. However, there has been a recently confirmed rumor that this movie has been canceled. Chris Evans, the well-known actor of Captain America, has released a statement on his social media.

“Avengers… we can’t assemble”.

This news has shocked and upset people around the world as they were hyped up to see so many familiar faces take on new roles and see how the Marvel Universe can possibly go in a different direction due to the introduction of so many new characters over the years.

There was a possibility of Chris Evans and Tom Holland also playing as main villains in the new movie. They would have most likely been fighting alongside the evil Doctor Doom against some of the new and remastered faces we have seen in recent shows and movies. If Marvel had decided to carry out the new Avengers film, it would have definitely been an amazing thing as there would most likely be major plot twists along with countless renowned actors and actresses being involved in the casting. With the introduction of a multiverse, there was a big possibility of having Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield come back as Spidermen from their alternate realities.

There truly were so many different ways the movie could have played out due to the huge expansion of the MCU. We could have seen the most unlikely character interactions and involvements, and even possibly been able to witness one of the greatest movies of all time.

Many people are familiar with the new Spiderman, Miles Morales. His two movies were truly groundbreaking for Marvel as they provided in-depth explanations and insights into how the multiverse works. With heavy focus on this character, there was definitely the chance for him to be introduced into the live-action films with a big role.

Villains and heroes alike could have been reintroduced in slightly different forms as they could have either traveled through the multiverse or been misplaced by an outside force which could allow fans to see previously dead characters such as Ultron or Black Widow possibly make returns.

With the ending of the second season of the Loki show, fans learn that he becomes extremely powerful and a binding force that keeps the timeline and multiverse intact. This could have led to an epic battle between him and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

Unfortunately, these hopes and dreams will not be fulfilled as the Marvel Association has explained that they want the Avengers franchise to end with an extremely emotional ending which includes the death of Iron Man, along with a sort of “happy” ending in which the people of Planet Earth can forever be safe and peaceful.

While this is heartbreaking news, fans can still be excited for smaller projects in the future that focus on certain characters we may not have learned much about yet.
