“9” - Drake. This song by Drake has a really catchy tune, and it’s his way of paying homage to his Toronto origins. The lyrics have deep meaning as they explain how his life changed completely after all the fame and success, and in a way, how it was turned upside down. I personally really enjoy the song just because of how the lyrics motivate me to give everything I have in whatever I do.
“Invincible” - Aminé. This song is really enjoyable because of the unique rhythm and beat. The meaning behind the words relates to believing in oneself and being resilient through adversity. I like this song a lot because it makes me remember exciting times with my family since we all watched “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” together, and the song was featured in the soundtrack.
“Show me Love” - WizTheMc, bees & honey. This is a very heartfelt song about true connection in a relationship. However, I personally enjoy this song because it’s really chill, calm, and it has a lot of emotional connection due to the people that I’ve listened to it with before.
“Successful” - PCF Jaey, Lil Tony Official. This specific song is heavily focused on motivation, self-confidence, and proving others wrong. I really like how the lyrics motivate me to push myself, and since the tune is really upbeat, I like to listen to it when I go to train or workout.
“What’s Up Danger” - Blackway, Black Caviar. Many people know “What’s Up Danger” from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The song is really high-energy and there is a lot of meaning behind it related to risk-taking and being fearless. I personally love this song because it reminds me of the movie, of course, but also because I’ve shared good times with friends while listening to some of the lyrics.
“Baianá” - Bakermat. This song is very uplifting and is just a feel-good musical creation in general. I personally enjoy it because of the summertime and vacation vibes.
“Redemption” - Kidwild, Nemzzz. This song by Nemzzz reflects his determination and work ethic to make it to the top and become successful. The tune is very energetic yet also methodical, and I really appreciate his narrative of perseverance, which is perfectly highlighted in this track.
“Red Leather” - Future, Metro Boomin, J. Cole. This song has a very cool and collected vibe, and the lyrics focus a lot on ambition and power. I find this song to be one that’s easy to listen to at any particular moment because it is calming and helps me to get in the right frame of mind.
“Seven Years” - LG Malique, Lukas Graham. The origins of this song are truly incredible because LG Malique originally was just making content on social media in which he was rapping over the lyrics of the original song “7 Years” by Lukas Graham. This caught Graham’s attention and led the two to create a whole new piece together, blending both artists’ styles and personalities.
“La Patrulla” - Peso Pluma, Neton Vega. This song by Peso Pluma and Neton Vega narrates a success story, while bringing attention to hardships faced along this journey. While I don’t personally understand most of the lyrics due to it being in Spanish, I enjoy the high-energy beat and have a lot of appreciation for the traditional Mexican music being blended with more modern beats.
“Lo Logré” - Myke Towers. This is a celebratory song in which he looks back on his path to success and how he achieved his goals by pushing past adversity. I feel as if many songs in Spanish don’t require a complete understanding of each verse in order to enjoy the music, and this is a perfect example. This song is very upbeat and the tune is fast-paced. I personally like this song, especially because it makes me reminisce about the good times with friends who first played it for me, even if I unfortunately don’t get to see them often nowadays.
“Baile Inolvidable” - Bad Bunny. This reggaeton track by fan favorite Bad Bunny is about creating beautiful memories and enjoying the present moment. I personally find the tune extremely enjoyable and catchy, and the vibes are just truly unmatched. I always listen to this song before a soccer game so I am in the correct mental state, not too calm but not overly hyper either.
“All The Stars” - Kendrick Lamar, SZA. This song by Kendrick and SZA is just amazing and it is featured in the end credits of Black Panther. This song focuses on themes of love, identity, and hope. I personally would say it is perfect in every aspect possible, and there is just so much emotional connection due to the unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman, the actor of Black Panther. This song serves as a reminder of the truly important things in life and how we should never take the people we love for granted.
“White Ferrari” - Frank Ocean. This is a very mellow song with themes of love and loss. Frank Ocean does a great job of drawing fans in because of his very delicate and genuine vocals. I personally enjoy the song due to the emotions that it stirs and due to the extremely calm tune, which is different from what I usually tend to listen to.
