2026 has a promising amount of very highly anticipated movies and show releases coming up. Out of all of them, this list of movies and shows was chosen to highlight the movies I think will be the most popular. Let’s get into it.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the sequel to the critically acclaimed The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was released in theaters on April 1, 2023. The main cast will reprise their roles with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. The plot will see the titular cast return to face off against Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie) and meet Yoshi and Rosalina (Brie Larson). The movie is set to release on April 1, 2026.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is the tie-in movie to the fan-favorite Disney+ television series The Mandalorian. Directed and written by Jon Favreau, it sees the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu (Himself) finally appear on the big screen as a seemingly more kid-friendly look into the Star Wars universe. Releasing on May 22, 2026, in theaters, it is sure to be a blast for families worldwide.

Toy Story 5, produced by Pixar and keeping its star-studded cast, releases on

June 19, 2026. It follows the main characters left off from Toy Story 4, trying to combat the rise of technology in Bonnie’s life. Anna Faris, Ernie Hudson, Conan O'Brien, Craig Robinson, and Greta Lee join the cast this time around, meaning it will be extra packed with new characters with recognisable voices.

Supergirl is an upcoming DC movie set in the same universe as James Gunn’s Superman (2025). Starring Milly Alcock as the heroine, the movie follows the plot of Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow book miniseries. It releases on June 26, 2026, with the HBO show Lanterns possibly releasing around the same time, starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as the Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart, respectively.

Moana (2026) is the live-action remake of Moana (2016), starring Catherine Laga'aia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson returning to play Maui. With the commercial success of Disney's past remakes despite critical reviews, Moana (2026) will most likely be no different from the rest.

Avengers: Doomsday is the 39th film in the MCU and is meant to be the end of The Multiverse Saga, which has been every Marvel movie and show since 2021. Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU to play the main villain, Dr. Doom. Additionally, the X-Men will also be a major aspect of the film alongside the Fantastic 4, whose solo movie released last year. It will most likely be a similarly sized event as Infinity War and will see many fan favorite characters return to the big screen to fight for a common cause. It will be released on December 18, 2026. If you can’t wait that long for another Marvel movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has you covered, releasing on July 31, 2026.

Elle is a TV series scheduled to premiere on July 1, 2026, on Amazon Prime Video. It is a prequel show to the feature film Legally Blonde. It follows Elle Woods, originally played by Reese Witherspoon and now played by Lexi Minetree, during her high school years in the 90s.

Bridgerton is an alternative history show based on the book series of the same name, set in early 19th-century London, following the eight siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family. Season 4 will be released in two parts this year, premiering on January 29 and February 26, 2026. This season is based on An Offer from a Gentleman, it is Benedict's story, and the 3rd book in the series.

The Boys: Season 5 is premiering April 8, 2026, and is the final season of the show. The Boys is a satirical superhero series based on the comic book run of the same name. Showrunner Eric Kripke said that this final season will be the "show's version of the apocalypse".
