The end of the school year is always a fun time for students, a time for them to unwind after late nights and early mornings spent studying. Ask any student, from any grade, and they’ll tell you how excited they are to finally be done with school. Maybe they’re going on vacation or maybe they’re just going to hang out with their friends. Either way, the thing they're happiest about is not having to go to school for a while.
But nobody talks about the teachers that were with you that whole year, teaching as many classes as you were taking. Teachers that were here when you came and will still be here after you are long gone.
That's why it’s super important to appreciate your teachers and all that they do for you. They even stay an extra day after school ends to clean up class rooms and finish up grading.
There are many ways that you can support and appreciate your teachers, not just during teacher appreciation week, but year round as well. One way a lot of people show appreciation for their teachers is by buying school supplies towards the beginning of the year, but the easiest way to show appreciation for your teachers is to simply respect them.
They have devoted their lives to helping you get the education you need to succeed in the world, so the least you can do is show up to class, listen to your teachers, and do your assignments. This way their hard work isn’t going to waste.
A lot of teenagers view school as a boring waste of time, but some people may want to take the extra mile for their teachers, especially at the end of the year. If that's you, some ideas for things you can do are: give your teachers gifts, write them appreciation letters, or maybe even get them a cake!
These little (and not so little) things you do for your teacher do much more than you think. They motivate teachers for the next school year and make them feel seen, which, in turn, makes school better for students as well. So, not only does appreciating teachers for all the work they put into educating students help them, it also helps students as well.
Hopefully, this article inspires you to put in a little work to show your teachers that you care and that you appreciate them.
